The 5 Best Restaurants in Izmir, Urla and Alaçatı
The best restaurants in Izmir, our five MICHELIN-selected picks: a börek buffet in Kemeraltı, a surprise menu in Alsancak, two starred tables in Urla and a garden kitchen in Alaçatı.
The best restaurants in Izmir run from a börek buffet in the old bazaar to starred tables among the vineyards of Urla. Our five picks all come from the MICHELIN Guide’s selection for the province, and they cover the city, the Urla wine country and Alaçatı. With a driver, our Urla wine tour joins tastings and lunch in one day. We chose them so you can eat well on each day of a trip along this coast.
How We Chose the Best Restaurants in Izmir
All five are in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide selection for Izmir. Two are starred, and three are Bib Gourmand addresses for good food at a fair price. Then we picked one place for a quick lunch, one for a long evening and one for each of the coast’s two favorite getaways. We book your tables ahead everywhere except the börek house, which takes no reservations. For a long lunch outside the city, see the best restaurants in Urla.
The Best Restaurants in Izmir City
1. Ayşa Boşnak Börekçisi, Kemeraltı
Ayşa sits in the Abacıoğlu Han on Anafartalar Caddesi, in Kemeraltı, the old bazaar quarter of Izmir. Its hot and cold buffet holds Bosnian and Ottoman dishes, so you fill your plate with stuffed vine leaves, lamb stew and baklava. It takes no reservations. So come at lunchtime, between a walk through the bazaar and the Izmir Clock Tower.
2. Kemal’in Yeri, Alsancak
In an old house with tall ceilings on 1453. Sokak in Alsancak, Kemal Özçakar cooks a surprise menu. Each morning he visits farms around the city for vegetables, fruit and other produce, and the menu follows what he finds. Expect mezze such as fava with dill and lemon, then lamb sweetbreads with oregano and thyme. It is a Bib Gourmand, and locals fill it every day.

3. Vino Locale, Urla
Vino Locale holds two MICHELIN Stars and sits in Kuşçular, in the vineyard country of Urla. Ozan and Seray Kumbasar run it together: he cooks and she pours the region’s wines. The chef grows part of his produce and buys the rest from nearby farms. Because the set menu changes every six weeks, each visit follows the season.

4. OD Urla, Urla
OD Urla holds one MICHELIN Star. A winding road climbs to the family estate of the chef Osman Sezener, where the restaurant fills a glasshouse among olive trees and vines. About half of its produce comes from its own garden, and the kitchen cooks over a charcoal grill. Walk through the vegetable garden before dinner, and consider a night in one of the guest rooms.

5. Asma Yaprağı, Alaçatı
In Alaçatı, Asma Yaprağı fills a house draped in grapevines, with a garden of herbs and vegetables. Women cooks make home-style dishes, and you choose from the plates on display inside. Think pumpkin pie with yogurt, fried zucchini flowers or mantı with chili oil. It is a Bib Gourmand. Book for dinner, and note that it does not take children.
