About these tours

Our evening tours fill the second half of a sightseeing day. So we sort these evening tours by mood: slow, social or loud, plus one sunset far from Istanbul.

Evening tours in Istanbul, by mood

Slow evening tours: whirling dervishes and a hammam

The Mevlevi Sufi order began in Konya in 1273, and their sema ceremony has been UNESCO intangible heritage since 2008. On our whirling dervish ceremony evening, you see the Galata Mevlevi Lodge and learn what the sema means. After the ceremony, you eat dinner in Galata. The Istanbul hammam experience is slower still: warm marble in a Sinan bathhouse, a scrub and foam wash, then tea.

Social: a ferry at dusk and meze

The Istanbul by Night tour starts with sunset in Sultanahmet. Then a ferry carries you to Asia at dusk, and you walk the evening streets of Kadıköy. Finally, you sit down to meze at a meyhane.

Loud: match day in the stands

The Istanbul football match tour is the loud one. We pick you up about four to five hours before kick-off. Then you join home supporters for the build-up and the chants, stopping for köfte-ekmek on the way in. Your licensed guide stays for the match and the time with local fans after it.

Evening tours beyond Istanbul: Mount Nemrut

One of our evening tours leaves the city behind. The Mount Nemrut sunset tour takes in the Karakuş tumulus, the Roman Cendere Bridge and Arsameia. Still, the reason to go is sunset among the stone heads of the gods on Mount Nemrut.

Our suggestion

After the old city, take the Istanbul by Night tour, because it starts in Sultanahmet. On a long museum day, however, book the hammam instead. Keep the match for a day when your club plays at home. With several nights, mix the moods: the dervishes one evening, Kadıköy the next. Mount Nemrut is not in Istanbul, so give it its own place in your route.
