About Rubil Gündüz

Some guides show you a place. Rubil Gündüz makes it talk. He is the co-founder and lead guide of Turkey Your Way. He has guided in English and Italian since 2002, and his license covers the whole of Türkiye. For more than twenty years he has walked travelers through mosques, bazaars and Roman streets. Few guides can tell the story in Italian with the jokes intact.

From Italian Literature to the Streets of Istanbul

Rubil studied Italian Language and Literature at Ankara University. Those years gave him more than a second language. They taught him how to read a text, a building or a crowd. They also taught him to shape a story that stays with you. He still uses those skills today, in front of a mosaic or a market stall.

Rubil Gündüz in Istanbul

He tells Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Hippodrome as one long story. It runs from the chariot races of Constantinople to the Ottoman sultans. Underground, he slows down among the columns of the Basilica Cistern. In the Istanbul Archaeology Museums he picks out the few pieces that tie the whole city together.

Between the sights, he likes a break at the Pudding Shop in Sultanahmet. It was the old meeting point of the hippie trail.

Anatolia, Since 2007

Istanbul is only the beginning. Since 2007, Rubil has planned and led tours across Anatolia: the marble streets of Ephesus, the valleys of Cappadocia, the battlefields of Gallipoli and the less traveled southeast. His strength on the road is timing. He knows when to arrive, when to stop for lunch and when a group needs an hour off.

Food, Meyhanes and Istanbul by Night

Ask Rubil where to eat and the tour gets even better. He knows the market stalls, the family-run restaurants and the street food that locals choose. He also loves a long evening of rakı and meze in a meyhane. After dark, he can point you from a terrace to the lively streets around İstiklal Avenue.

Help for Health Travelers

For several years, Rubil has also helped international visitors who come to Türkiye for medical and wellness care. He knows how these trips work, from the first appointment to the rest days. He can add a gentle day of sightseeing when the doctor allows it.
