Hideaway Hotel

A family-run hotel of 20 rooms beside the ancient theater of Antiphellos, a short walk west of the harbor in Kaş.

Overview

Hideaway Hotel is a family-run hotel of 20 rooms on the western side of Kaş, right next to the ancient theater. Most rooms have balconies. There is also a courtyard pool and a terrace with a wide view. The harbor and the town center are under ten minutes away on foot, and the hotel stays open in every season.

Hideaway Hotel beside the ancient theater

The hotel stands at the end of a dead-end street, while the theater of Antiphellos lies just beside it. So the old stone seats are only a minute or two away on foot. Guests can park on the street. When it fills up, there is more space next to the theater.

Quick facts

  • Good for: a small, walkable base in Kaş, with the sea a few steps away
  • Best combined with: an evening at the ancient theater and a boat day to Kekova

The Building and Its Story

From a family guesthouse to Hideaway Hotel

The family behind Hideaway Hotel first ran a small guesthouse here, back when tourism in Kaş was only starting. Later, they bought the building next door and turned it into the hotel. Since then, they have added an elevator, after guests asked for one. In 2022, they also opened a sushi bar on the two-story terrace. The olive oil on the breakfast table, too, comes from the family's own gardens.

The theater of Antiphellos

Kaş stands on the site of Antiphellos, whose Lycian name was Habesos. In ancient times, it served as the port of the inland city of Phellos. It also held one vote in the Lycian League. The theater sits on the south slope of the old acropolis, so it faces the open sea. It has 26 rows of seats in three sections, with four stairways between them. However, it has no stone stage building. Scholars date it to the Hellenistic period. Back in town, the King's Tomb still stands on Uzun Çarşı (a market street or bazaar) Street. This Lycian sarcophagus dates from the 4th century BC.

Where Hideaway Hotel Sits

The harbor, the town center and the bus station are all under ten minutes away on foot, although the way back is uphill. For flights, Kaş is 192 km (119 miles) from Antalya Airport and 160 km (99 miles) from Dalaman Airport. Because the drive is long, the hotel can arrange a transfer from either airport.

Swimming platforms, beaches and Kekova

Kaş has no sandy beaches, so people swim from platforms set up along the shore. The nearest one is 50 meters (165 feet) from the hotel. If you prefer a pebble beach, a shuttle runs to Büyük Çakıl Beach. Farther west, Kaputaş Beach lies on the coast road toward Kalkan. To the east, you reach the bays of Kekova mainly by boat. There, Lycian sarcophagi stand in the shallows, while the castle of Simena holds a rock-cut theater.

Who It Suits

Hideaway Hotel suits travelers who want to walk everywhere in Kaş and then come back to a pool. Couples can take a standard room with a balcony, while solo travelers have a single room. Families of up to four fit in the deluxe room, which has two balconies. They can also take the sea-view apartment. Since the hotel added an elevator, the upper floors are easier to reach too.

It also has a Turkish bath and a sauna. We book your stay at Hideaway Hotel.
