Nineteen rooms on terraces in the Karagözler slope above Fethiye Marina, built with old timber and stone by local craftsmen.
Hotel Unique is a 19-room hotel in Karagözler, on the slope above Fethiye Marina. For dinner in Fethiye, see the best restaurants in Fethiye. The hotel’s rooms sit at different levels on terraces cut into the hillside, and each one has its own design. The town center is a short walk away. The hotel is also listed in the MICHELIN Guide.
The hotel faces the marina from across Fevzi Çakmak Street. Because the slope rises steeply behind it, the upper rooms look out over the yachts to the gulf. Others, however, face the mountains or the town. The ancient theater of Fethiye lies only about 100 meters (330 feet) along the road.
Quick facts
Hotel Unique is a new building made from old materials. Its wooden beams and heavy stones came from the old buildings that once stood on this plot. Fethiye stonemasons and woodworkers then worked them into the new rooms. Inside, too, century-old wood covers the floors. The walls also carry a plaster mixed with straw, while the beds rest on stone bases. Whitewashed wooden furniture, carved doors and painted shutters finish each room.

Instead of one block, the hotel climbs the hill in steps. The builders shaped the slope into a series of terraces, so the rooms and suites sit on different levels. Because of this layout, most rooms open onto a balcony or a terrace. Two suite types go further still. The Queen Suite has a terrace garden of 30 square meters (320 square feet). Some Deluxe Suites have one of 40 square meters (430 square feet), and each garden holds a stone jacuzzi.
From Karagözler, the town center is about 150 meters (500 feet) away on foot. So you can leave the car behind for most of your stay. Dalaman Airport is 43 km (27 miles) from the hotel. From there, you can take a taxi, a rental car or the airport buses into Fethiye.
Modern Fethiye stands on top of ancient Telmessos, so most of the old city lies under its streets. Still, the town keeps its rock tombs. Above the houses, the Tomb of Amyntas fills a steep rock face with a temple front of Ionic columns. It dates from the 4th century BC, and it honors Amyntas, whom historians take to be a ruler of Telmessos. Today a long stairway leads up to it. Farther out, the empty stone village of Kayaköy lies 8 km (5 miles) south of Fethiye. Our Fethiye guide also covers the rest of the gulf, from Ölüdeniz to the Lycian cities inland.
Hotel Unique suits couples and small groups who want a hotel with character close to the town center. With 19 rooms, it stays small, while the suites with terrace jacuzzis suit a honeymoon. It also works for travelers without a car, because restaurants, the harbor and the boats are all within walking distance.

Rooms range from classic and superior rooms to premium rooms with a garden jacuzzi. Above them come the suites with sea-view terraces. All have air conditioning, a minibar and room service. Breakfast is a half-buffet, and then a snack bar serves through the day. In the evening, the menu mixes local, international and Ottoman dishes. The hotel also runs sailing boats and a catamaran for days in the bays of the gulf. We book your stay at Hotel Unique, which the MICHELIN Guide lists.
