A thirteen-room hotel of books in a historic house on the Tophane walls of Bursa, with hammam rooms and views to Uludağ.
Kitap Evi Otel is a small hotel on the old Tophane walls of Bursa, above the historic center. Kitap evi means "house of books" in Turkish, and there are books inside for guests. The hotel has thirteen rooms, each one different, in a historic house.
Behind the house, a garden sits inside high stone walls, under old trees. The historic Pınarbaşı water once ran through it; once the city's waters were gathered together, its name lived on only in the land records. Bursa is a city of waters, and the hotel nods to that in its bathrooms: almost every room has a special one, and some rooms have their own hammam.
From the rooms on the city side, the view runs over the plain to the slopes of Uludağ. The view also takes in the Bursa Grand Mosque, the Green Tomb, Emir Sultan, the Yıldırım complex, the old hans and the covered bazaar. The other rooms, by contrast, look into the walled garden.

Each room has its own name and character. There is a Cumba room with a bay window, a Çatı room under the roof, a Şömineli room with a fireplace, a Hamamlı room with a hammam and a Bahçe room on the garden. They range from 21 to 38 square meters (225 to 410 square feet). The house also has a restaurant and a fireplace.
We suggest it for couples and readers who want a small hotel in old Bursa with a view of the city. It also suits travelers who want to stay in the old city, near its mosques and markets.
Our Bursa day trip starts at the Grand Mosque, then walks through Koza Han and the markets before the Green Mosque and Cumalıkızık.
We book your stay at Kitap Evi Otel. For more on the city, read Bursa or Edirne: Which Ottoman Capital to Visit.

Tophane is up by the old citadel; give us your dates and we will plan the Green Mosque and the bazaars from there.
