Istanbul's newest basketball arena, in Zeytinburnu: the home of Anadolu Efes since 2024, with a basketball high school on site.

Overview

The Basketball Development Center is Istanbul's newest basketball arena, in the Zeytinburnu district on the European side of the city. It opened in 2024 as a center for Turkish basketball, and then Anadolu Efes made it their home. So today it is the place to see Efes play at home, in the Turkish league and in the EuroLeague. This season, Efes hosts Partizan on 15 December and Maccabi Tel Aviv on 4 February 2027.

Where the Basketball Development Center stands

The center stands in Kazlıçeşme, Zeytinburnu. In Turkish, it is called Basketbol Gelişim Merkezi, or BGM for short.

The History of the Basketball Development Center

A new home for Turkish basketball

The center opened in 2024. Since then, Anadolu Efes has played its home games here, both in the Basketball Super League and in the EuroLeague. In 2026–27, Beşiktaş plays its EuroLeague home games here too, against Panathinaikos on 4 December and Crvena Zvezda on 28 January 2027.

A school for young players

The center is more than an arena. In September 2024, the education ministry, the sports ministry and the federation agreed to open a basketball high school here. So young players can study and train on the same site. The federation’s president, Hedo Türkoğlu, came to the NBA from Efes Pilsen in Istanbul.
