Seven restored cave and stone houses in the old Temenni quarter of Ürgüp, kept by Süha Ersöz, who opened Esbelli Evi in 1990.
Esbelli Evi is a group of seven restored cave and stone houses in the Temenni quarter of Ürgüp. Each one is a whole house, with a sitting room, bedrooms, a kitchen and its own courtyard, terrace or garden.
The houses are the work of one man, Süha Ersöz. He came to Cappadocia in 1979 as a tourism volunteer and worked in the tourist information office in Ürgüp. Then, in 1987 he bought his first old cave house in the town, and in 1990 he opened it to guests as Esbelli Evi. Over the next decades, he bought and restored twelve neighboring buildings, cave rooms and stone houses alike. In recent years, he has rented out the houses one by one instead of running a hotel.
The restoration keeps the decoration simple, so the carved stone and the old vaults stay in view. Every house has a fully equipped kitchen, so you can prepare your own meals.
However, the seven houses vary in size. The Labyrinth Cave House has four bedrooms and four bathrooms, while the Cave-Life House and the Twin Arch Cave House each have two. The Hillside Stone House has a terrace, and the Fantasy and Hideaway cave houses each have a garden.

We suggest it for couples, families and friends traveling together who want a whole house with a kitchen in old Ürgüp. You book by writing to the owner directly.
Our Cappadocia sunset and wine tour walks through the old quarter of Ürgüp and stops at a local winery for a tasting. The story of the tourist office desk and the first cave house opens our list of family-run hotels in Cappadocia.
We book your stay at Esbelli Evi. For more places to stay, read Where to Stay in Cappadocia: Göreme, Uçhisar or Ürgüp.
