A family house above Göreme that opened with four guest rooms in 1993 and grew by joining the houses around it.
Kelebek Special Cave Hotel, usually called Kelebek Cave Hotel, stands in the Aydınlı neighborhood above the village of Göreme. Kelebek means butterfly in Turkish. From the hotel, the center of Göreme is about five minutes away on foot, and the Göreme Open-Air Museum and most of the valleys are within walking distance.
The hotel began in 1993 in the house of its owner, Ali Yavuz. At first it was a guest house with four rooms. Over the years he joined it to the old houses around it and restored them himself, so the hotel grew house by house. It is still a family business.
Some rooms are carved into the rock, and others sit in stone houses. The suites have fireplaces and private balconies that look toward Uçhisar and Çavuşin. From many rooms and terraces, guests can watch the balloons rise over the valleys in the early morning.

Back at the hotel, there is also a swimming pool, a Turkish bath with a sauna, and an à la carte restaurant.
With its own travel agency, the family runs an organic Anatolian farm in a nearby valley. There, guests can also join the grape harvest or take a cooking class.
We suggest it for families and for first-time visitors who want to walk from the hotel into Göreme and its valleys. It also suits travelers who like a hotel with a family behind it.
Our north Cappadocia tour begins at the Göreme Open-Air Museum, a short walk from the hotel. In the evening, our Göreme sunset dinner tour watches the sun go down over Red and Rose Valley and ends with dinner in Göreme. The hotel’s four-room start in 1993 earns it a place among our family-run hotels in Cappadocia.
We book your stay at Kelebek Special Cave Hotel. For more help with choosing, read our guide to Choosing a Cappadocia Cave Hotel: How to Find the Right One.

In Göreme, the open-air museum is close; send us your nights and we will plan the rest around it. Our driver can meet you at the airport with our Cappadocia airport transfer.
