A winery, a restaurant and the Vinifera Hotel among vineyards and old olive trees in Gökçealan, a few minutes from Selçuk and Ephesus.
7 Bilgeler is a winery in the hills of Gökçealan, near Selçuk. Its restaurant and hotel stand among the vineyards. The name means "the seven sages." Ephesus is only 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) away, and the House of the Virgin Mary about 12 kilometers (7.5 miles).
Two physicians began the winery as a dream, after giving their working lives to medicine. They named it after the thinkers who lived on this coast in ancient times. For the buildings, they worked with the architect Xavier Bindl. He joined the European château tradition with the spirit of the Anatolian caravanserai, the old roadside inn.
As a result, the winery stands behind a row of Doric columns. Inside, the oenologist Jean Luc Colin planned its working layout. Between the hotel and the winery, there is also a vineyard of about 20 decares (5 acres). So guests can walk through the vines on a vineyard tour and join a wine tasting.

The hotel, Vinifera Hotel, sits in a stone building on 50 decares (12 acres) of land. It has 25 deluxe rooms, a king suite and two family suites. Each one also has a balcony or a terrace over the lavender gardens, the vines or the green valley. There is a pool of about 200 square meters (2,150 square feet). Guests can also join yoga or go cycling.
Mayadan, the restaurant, cooks Aegean food with seasonal produce, fresh Aegean herbs, local cheeses, meat and fish. The kitchen also matches each dish to the house wines. For example, the olive oil comes from hundred-year-old trees around the rooms, grafted long ago onto wild olives. Finally, you can eat on the terrace at sunset or at long tables in the courtyard.
We suggest it for couples, families and wine lovers who want to sleep among the vines. Ephesus is still close by. Selçuk is about 7 minutes away by car, Kuşadası about 12 minutes and İzmir Airport about 45 minutes.
Our Ephesus and Şirince tour pairs Ephesus with the wine village of Şirince. Afterward, you can come back to the vineyards for dinner on the same day. Its Vinifera Hotel lies seven kilometers from the ruins, so it is one of the countryside places to stay near Ephesus.
We book your stay at 7 Bilgeler, and we arrange visits to other wineries in Turkey too.
